With support from the Henry Art Gallery and the Simpson center for the Humanities at the University of Washington, we have developed a new project that builds on Wave Signs to create a participatory sound poetry experience. Moon Signs, invites museum-goers to use a lunar calendar as a poetic compass to navigate the night sky and build a word ladder to the orb that exerts such force over our lives and our language.
Experience a digital version of our volvelle, printed by Creative Communications in Seattle, Washington, which will be given to participants at both events.
Moon Signs is created for the Henry Art Gallery’s series The Untuning of the Sky–a series of summer outdoor events, curated by Emily Zimmerman, that bring together music, poetry, and film inspired by the mystery and wonder of the night sky.
We will reprise Moon Signs at the Seattle Art Museum’s SAM Remix later this month.
Please join us for one of these events, which are part of longer evenings of lectures, performances, and play at two great art institutions.
